Accessibility checklist

A replay is not available to everyone if the controls and language tracks are not usable.

Check the specific match, device, language, and replay—not only a platform-wide accessibility claim.

Captions

Accuracy, synchronization, completeness, placement and language.

Audio

Commentary languages, audio description, dialogue clarity and channel selection.

Controls

Keyboard/remote operation, focus visibility, labels, seek and replay controls.

Visual design

Contrast, text scaling, motion preferences and status indicators.

Support

Accessible complaint path, response expectations and issue details.

Replay parity

Whether corrected captions and tracks remain available on demand.

Caption quality has several dimensions

The FCC describes accurate, synchronous, complete, and properly placed captions. A caption toggle alone does not establish quality. Live speech, crowd noise, names, and rapid commentary can make sports particularly difficult.

Test the exact device and content state

A web player can expose controls that differ from a television app. A replay can have corrected captions that were not available live—or can lose a track during processing. Test the device and state you actually need.

Report reproducible details

  • Platform and exact programme or match
  • Live, delayed, condensed, or full replay
  • Device model, OS, and app version
  • Caption or audio language selected
  • Timecode and description of the issue
  • Screenshots only when rights and privacy permit

Accessibility questions

Are captions the same on live and replay video?

Not always. Live captions can be produced differently from corrected replay captions, and quality or availability can vary by platform and device.

Does a platform listing guarantee captions for every match?

No. Verify the specific event, language, device app, and replay. Platform-wide accessibility statements may have exceptions.

What details help when reporting a caption problem?

Record the platform, programme, device, app version, date/time, language, whether the issue was live or replay, and the exact caption problem.
